Happy (Belated) New Year!

Ok, so we're almost a month late. Sorry! We've just been busy in the community. The Howard University Alumni Club of Baltimore (HUACB) has already gotten 2015 off to a strong start and we hope you did too. Let's get all caught up.

New Year, New Council. HUACB elected new officers who have already gotten the ball rolling.

President- Brian Hall
Vice President- Subrena Utley
Treasurer- Neil Alvanzo
Recording Secretary- Keisha Porter

We couldn't be more excited for all that they have in store for 2015!

Their first order of business in the new year was the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Members of the club headed out to McElderry Park and Oliver Community to help distribute information on fire safety. They were also invited to attend a live performance from The Story Tree Gang.

The HOPE worldwide Story Tree Gang engages teen and campus students in a mentorship program that gives young people a creative opportunity for dialogue on social issue relevant to them. Combining  music, dance, puppetry and comic story telling, the Story Tree Gang present social topics in a Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) form.  Conflict resolution, gang violence, healthy eating and literacy are all topics woven delicately together to reach, teach and invite dialogue with pre school and elementary school children as well as family and community members.
